2.5 Typography
Typography
Typography is an essential element of the Limestone University visual identity. When used consistently, it unifies messaging and creates familiarity.
The University's typographic identity is visible across many applications, including print and electronic mediums. The following type selections have been made to best represent the voice of Limestone while maintaining a consistent tone throughout various University communications.
Primary Typefaces
Nimbus Roman D and Futura PT are the primary typefaces of the Limestone University visual identity.
Refined, intellegient, and attention-grabbing, Nimbus Roman D is a serif font that balances Futura PT to add sophistication and to position Limestone University as institutional and engaging.
Futura PT is a display sans-serif typeface ideal for headline and display sizes. Its tall, compressed form allows it to be scaled up to create a giant presence in contrast to body copy. Futura PT's weights span an elegant thin to an arresting heavy, with accompanying obliques. Futura PT makes a strong impression in print, headlines, video, and social media-whether paired with a contrasting typeface or on its own.
Default Typefaces
Use Nimbus Roman D and Futura PT as the primary typefaces of the Limestone University brand. In situations where these fonts are not available, such as in Microsoft Office documents, use Times New Roman and Arial instead.
Nimbus Roman D and Futura PT are licensed fonts available at fonts.adobe.com as part of a Creative Cloud subscription. Times New Roman and Arial come standard with Windows- and Macintosh-based computers.
