2.1 Logo
The University logo consists of two primary components - the shield and the signature. These parts combine to make a logo that identifies the University to the world.
The Shield
The shield shape of the logo represents the "U" in university. Limestone's founding year of 1845 is the focal point of the logo as it indicates that the institution has been providing access to higher education for over 175 years. The upward stroke beneath the cupola represents Limestone's rising momentum as a leader and trendsetter in higher education in the Upstate, across South Carolina, and throughout all of the United States.
The Signature
The word "Limestone" utilizes a traditional font that speaks to, and pays respect to, the school's heritage and culture. The word "University" employs a more modern font that updates Limestone's messaging as well as the institution's look and feel.
Logo Configurations
To give designers flexibility, the University logo is available in two configurations: horizontal and stacked.
Primary Horizontal
The primary horizontal logo is the choice for use on the majority of University communications. There are several variations to meet differing design needs, and together they comprise the University's logo system.
Primary Stacked
This format of the primary logo is reserved for only when use of the horizontal version is impractical, when pertaining to the space standards. All other instances should implement the use of the primary horizontal logo.
The Shield
The shield can be used as an independent graphic element in a layout or set in-line with text.
Color Variations
When using the official logos, there are four distinct color options from which to choose.
